Each year the Hilda López-Arce Scholarship Selection Committee in conjunction with the Chancellor’s Committee on the Status of Latinos and the Latina Network award a $500 scholarship to a Latin@ student who exhibits leadership qualities and who has made contributions to the Latino community.
Application Checklist:

What have you done to exemplify leadership and how have you contributed to improving the Latino community?  How do you plan to use this scholarship to reach your educational and personal goals?

  1. _____  Academic Record: Applicants authorize the release of their academic record by completing and signing this application. The Hilda López-Arce Scholarship Selection Committee will access an unofficial transcript for evaluation of this application.


Eligibility Requirements:

¨          Must be a UIC undergraduate Latin@ student enrolled in the Spring 2016 semester and the Fall 2016 semester.

¨          Must be in good academic standing (GPA min 3.00) with a minimum of 12 credit hours earned.

¨          Must demonstrate financial need.

¨          Must demonstrate active involvement in the Latino community on or off the UIC campus.

¨         This scholarship is open to UIC undocumented students (with or without DACA).


For fullest consideration, applications must be submitted online via the Hilda Lopez Scholarship electronic form or submitted via email to by 11:59 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2016.

Any application missing any supporting documents will not be considered.
